imagine your otp getting married
but then one of them gets sick and the other tearily describes their perfect honeymoon as they slowly die from cellular degradation. Then it turns out the entire ship and crew are duplicates and are slowly disintegrating, the last nine months being a falsehood. They make it their final mission is to send out a copy of their logs to keep their memory alive but before the real crew even know of their existence they fall apart into formless debris.
